I see that some of your merchandise is brand new and other things are pre-owned. How do I know what I’m actually purchasing?
Every item on PawnDetroit.com is clearly marked as new or pre-owned. We work very hard to make sure that you have an accurate description of a product’s history and of course, every item is posted with a picture. All jewelry purchases will arrive with a certificate of authenticity, so you can feel confident that you’ll be receiving the quality and craftsmanship described with each of our selections.
Where do you get the merchandise you’re selling?
Our merchandise comes from many sources. The items that are marked as new may come from retailers or manufacturers that needed to liquidate their stock. They give us a great deal and we pass it on to you. We also have arranged for special discount pricing with a number of manufacturers. Items that are marked as pre-owned, are either products that customers have sold us (just like you see on TV) or items that customers have pawned and ultimately forfeited after their 90 day loan expired. You’ll see that many of our pre-owned items are brand new as well, because sometimes people bring us items from stores that will not accept returns. They don’t want the item and they don’t want to lose all their money, so they sell it to us. We still mark those items as pre-owned, because, in fact, they are – but if we tell you something is in perfect condition, we stand behind that guarantee.
How are you able to offer such low prices?
Our mission, at American Jewelry and Loan, is to sell our merchandise at half the cash you’d pay in fine jewelry and department stores. We negotiate for the best possible deals and then pass them on to our customers. We can keep our mark-up low, because the volume of items we sell is so high. And we know, the lower we go, the more you’ll want to buy!
What if I want something autographed?
We’re happy to do that for you! Just tell us whose signature you’d like, if you’d like a special note, such as “To our best pawn customer ever!” and where you’d like your item signed. But please understand, autographed merchandise cannot be returned.
You ask for a lot of information on your order form. Why do you need my email address and phone number?
To put it simply, we need to be able to reach you! We want to send you an order confirmation, to let you know your merchandise is on its way of if there’s a problem. So please, make sure to fill in all the information we ask for. Fake email addresses or phone numbers are not going to help us help you. We only ask for that information, so we can deliver your order in the most efficient way possible. We will never provide any information you give us to anyone else.
Why am I being charged sales tax?
Internet retailers are required by state law to collect sales tax, based on the state that they’re shipping to.
How will I know if my order has been received?
Upon placing your order, we’ll instantly send you a confirmation and receipt for your purchase. If you don’t see anything in your inbox, please check your spam folder. If you still can’t find anything, please call our customer service department at 313- 345-4000 and we’ll make sure we have all your correct information and re-send the confirmation.
How quickly will I receive my purchase?
Our goal is to ship every item out within 48 hours of your purchase. Unless you request something else, we will ship your item via FedEx Ground. Expedited service is available at an extra charge. The minute your item ships, you’ll receive an email from us, letting you know your purchase is on its way.
Can I track my package?
Absolutely! Just type the confirmation number you receive with your receipt into our “Track Your Order” tab and we’ll tell you instantly how close you are to receiving your purchase.
What’s your return policy?
You have seven days from the day you receive your purchase to return an item. That doesn’t mean you have seven days to make up your mind. It means we really have to receive it back from you within seven days. If you return your purchase in the same shape and packaging it was sent to you, within that seven day window, we will be more than happy to offer you a refund, minus a 20% restocking fee. Merchandise credits may take up to 30 days to show up on your credit card statements. We cannot reimburse you for shipping costs, unless Fed Ex notifies us that a product was damaged in shipping. If you’ve asked for an item to be autographed or engraved, it cannot be returned.
I’m having trouble making a purchase on your website. Can I just call you?
We hope that if you’re running into trouble, that it’s just a temporary glitch. But if you continue to have trouble, please call us at 313 – 345-4000 and we’ll do everything we can to help you.
I’m looking for a certain item and I don’t see it on your website? You seem to have a lot of merchandise, how can I find out what else you have in stock?
Simply send us an email and we’ll check our inventory! If we have what you’re looking for, we’ll make special arrangements to process your order.
How can I get a loan from American Jewelry and Loan?
Michigan residents just need to bring the item they’d like to pawn to our Detroit store. We’re happy to evaluate its value and offer you our Max Cash Guarantee – 20% more cash than you’ll get anywhere else. State law does not allow us to offer loans to out of state customers or over the internet, but by using our “Can I Pawn This” form, which can be found on our homepage, we can give you a good estimate of what you can expect to get from pawn shops around the country. If you need help finding a pawn shop in your area, we’ll do our best to refer you to one, but we cannot guarantee that their estimate will be the same as ours. Michigan residents who receive an estimate through “Can I Pawn This” can print out that estimate and bring it to our retail store and we will absolutely honor it.
